About Silver Prices in Egypt

Silver in Egypt is priced in EGP and moves with the international silver spot price (XAG) and the dollar exchange rate. After the pound floated and weakened from 2022 onward, many Egyptians turned to silver as a low-cost way to hedge against inflation — it is far cheaper than gold and lets savers start with small amounts. Investment silver trades as 999 bars and coins by the ounce and the kilo, while 925 (sterling) silver is used for jewelry. Silver is sold in markets such as the goldsmiths' quarter of Khan el-Khalili. The prices above update live and reflect the pure metal value before making charges and dealer premiums.

Frequently Asked Questions

DahabPulse takes the international silver spot price (XAG in USD per troy ounce), divides by 31.1035 to get the per-gram price, applies the fineness (99.9% for 999, 92.5% for 925), then converts to EGP using the live exchange rate. Prices update automatically throughout the day.

Silver prices on DahabPulse update live throughout the day from the global market. The price shown is the international spot rate converted to EGP — physical bars and coins sell at a small premium above this metal value, higher on smaller bars.

Silver bars are 999 fine silver and are bought by the ounce, 100g, 250g, 500g and kilo. The "By bars" table above shows the live 999 metal value for each bar size in EGP. Physical bars carry a small premium over this metal value (higher on smaller bars) and vary by brand such as PAMP Suisse.

1 kilo = 1,000 grams and 1 troy ounce = 31.1035 grams. Silver is commonly bought by the ounce and the kilo because it is far cheaper than gold per gram. To price any weight, multiply the per-gram price for your purity (in the table above) by the number of grams.

The price here is the live international silver-content value per gram, converted to EGP. Physical bars, coins and jewelry add a premium over this metal value (fabrication/dealer margin, higher on smaller bars) plus VAT where it applies — so the shop price is higher. The raw silver rate itself is standardized.

A gram of 999 (pure/bullion) and 925 (sterling) silver in Egypt is priced live in the purity table above, in Egyptian pounds. 999 is 99.9% pure — used for investment bars and coins; 925 (sterling) is 92.5% pure — the jewelry standard, and Italian 925 silver is the same sterling grade. Both per-gram prices update through the day from the international silver spot (XAG/USD) at the live EGP rate.

"Italian silver" is the jewelry-market name for sterling 925 silver (92.5% pure) — it is not a different purity, "Italian" refers to the origin and finish of the pieces. Its per-gram metal price is therefore the live 925 price shown in the purity table above, in Egyptian pounds. Italian-made pieces usually carry a higher making charge for the finish, and that premium varies by dealer.

The live per-gram silver price in Egypt is shown above for 999 and 925 purity in Egyptian pounds, calculated from the international silver spot (XAG/USD) at the live EGP rate and updated through the day. Because the pound floats, the EGP price can move on both the metal and the exchange rate.

Like gold, silver is priced in USD internationally, so its EGP value tends to rise when the pound weakens. Silver costs far less per unit than gold, making it an accessible store of value for smaller savers. Note that silver is more volatile than gold and global factors also move the price — this is not financial advice.

Silver lets you start small: a 1-ounce or 100g 999 bar costs far less than the gold equivalent. Use the per-gram and bar tables above to see the live metal value, then buy from a reputable dealer — remember physical bars carry a small premium over the metal value, higher on smaller bars.
